MIF Originals is a brand new podcast that invites artists to reimagine the format as an audio arts space. In each episode, a different creative developing new work for Manchester International Festival 2019 will make an imaginative sound-based feature whilst exploring the nature of their own creativity. We ask: Why is it important to have new ideas? Is it still possible to be original?

Hosted by the poet Isaiah Hull, MIF Originals kicks off on Wednesday 3 July with award-winning author Adam Thirlwell, exploring the creativity of translation ahead of the world premiere of Studio Creole at MIF19 on Friday 12 July. Featuring special guests including international law specialist Phillipe Sands and Chilean author Alejandro Zambra, our first episode is an intimate insight into a translator’s relationship with language and meaning.

With episodes being released every Wednesday throughout July, you’ll hear abridged lessons from Tania Bruguera’s School of Integration at Manchester Art Gallery, a personal memoir and ode to Phillip Glass by Phelim McDermott, an exploration of the personal and social impact of video games with Hardeep Pandhal, and a podcast ‘for animals of all ages and species – including humanz’ devised by Sybille Peters and the artists behind Animals of Manchester ^{(including HUMANZ)}.
