Gemma Cairney hosts a live episode of Dream Space podcast with special guest Maxine Peake

What does art have the power or potential to do, when we allow ourselves to dream?

Renowned actor, activist, writer and director Maxine Peake joins host Gemma Cairney for a live episode of Dream Space – three years after she joined the podcast as our first ever guest. Step inside Maxine's mind as she conjures up her new dream space live on stage – then take part in an audience Q&A.

Born and raised in Bolton, Maxine has a deep connection with Manchester and a long-standing relationship with the Manchester International Festival (MIF). At MIF23, she performed an adaptation of Kay Dick’s dystopian novel They to critical acclaim. In 2024, she performed and co-created Robin/Red/Breast at Aviva Studios.

Gemma Cairney is a multi-award-winning broadcaster, author, activist and host of Dream Space. Her most recent work is The Immortal Sisterhood, which charts 12 inspirational women across history and has been adapted into a genre-blending live show.

In Dream Space, host Gemma Cairney explores the dreams of the world’s most exciting artists – including Ai Weiwei, Marina Abramovic, Zawe Ashton, Max Porter and Nish Kumar.
