TE// THE MOUNTA//S is a sonic essay by Suki Quasimodo exploring hidden languages, coded expression and quieter forms of resistance through sound.
Inspired by the dialogue between Ai Weiwei and Sinéad O’Connor as postcolonial rebel spirits resisting systems of domination, the piece draws from Nüshu (a secret written language created by women in Hunan, China) alongside traces of Ogham inscriptions.
Structured in four acts: marks, voices, transmutation and future language, the work combines original compositions, field recordings, vocal textures, processed language fragments and archival material, folding together Nüshu song recordings, Sinéad interviews/live performances and harmonic signatures inspired by protest, grief and emotional transmission into an experimental ambient score.
