MIF21 presented the prelude to an extraordinary journey across Europe – which will end in Manchester this autumn
The Walk is a travelling festival of art and hope in support of refugees – an epic cultural journey across Europe transcending borders, politics and language. The final day of MIF21 saw the Festival present A Sleeping Child, a beautiful one-off performance directed by Cheryl Martin under the sun at Castlefield Bowl.
Blending theatre, animation and music, A Sleeping Child was the prelude to The Walk – a three-month, 8,000-kilometre journey from the Syria-Turkey border to Manchester. Created by Good Chance (The Jungle) in collaboration with Handspring Puppet Company (War Horse), The Walk begins in July 2021 and ends this autumn here in Manchester. Read more about it at walkwithamal.org – and join us later this year for its extraordinary conclusion.
