MIF11 welcomed composer Mark Andre for the first ever UK performances of his complex and thought-provoking music, which brings together harmonious and discordant sounds to create something new and vital. The first half of the concert saw the screening of two films by Pierre Reimer made to accompany two large-scale orchestral compositions by Andre, the world premiere of hij and the UK premiere of modell, plus a performance of iv1 by pianist Yukiko Sugawara. Part two featured a selection of Andre’s chamber works performed by the leading exponents of Andre’s work, L’Instant Donné.
