What is a producer? What do they do and what key skills do you need to start a career as a producer?

Factory Academy’s brand new Intro to Producing course provides a unique insight into the skills and knowledge needed to access this creative career.

In our 8-week programme you’ll gain hands on experience by following two MIF23 productions as they come to life.

Intro to Producing gives 20 students an introduction into the world of Producing. The programme will also create a number of 12-month apprentice producer roles in partnership with flexible apprenticeship provider, Power Up Agency. These roles will be full time and paid at the Manchester Living Wage with two apprentices being employed by Factory International.

You’ll learn the skills and qualities needed to start your journey as a producer in the creative industries. The course teaches participants what a producer does and how they work with artists to make the magic happen. Students on this course will go on site visits, tours and meet a range of producers and guest speakers. The course will be delivered both in person and online.

Intro to Producing is open to all Greater Manchester residents aged 19+ who are currently unemployed, eligible for Universal Credit or earning less than £20,888. You don’t need any experience whatsoever – the programme is open to anyone who’s interested in starting a new career in the creative industries.
