A genre-hopping celebration of women, non-binary and queer talent that disrupted the male-dominated music industry

Our midday celebrations began with the RNCM’s fusion collective K’in Ensemble, setting Fezzy Square up for a day of genre-crossing fun. Next up was Salford City Radio’s Women on the Waves with a live version of their popular talk show that dissects all things women-related in Salford and beyond.

We had Rory Green on the stage first followed by an all-vinyl DJ set from Jenna G, who delved deep into the crates. Next up was nostalgia-inducing New Wave outfit H.U.M.A.N. Finishing up our indie showcase, Factory Sounds presented singer-songwriter Test Card Girl.

MIF stalwart Dave Haslam presented another night of Manchester madness with disco-punk band The Red Stains and gothic-inspired singer/songwriter Heartworms. Closing the night was Mx W0RLD – a multi-genre, non-binary Northern powerhouse with a DJ set that mixed the old with the new. We loved the blasts from the past.
