Future sounds and an unmissable night of British South Asian music
A night of partying and discovery to mark the closing weekend of MIF23. Manchester’s own Sam Malik curated a night of British South Asian talent, with Aviva £10 Tickets available so everyone could get involved.
There were R&B-infused tracks with a signal to Bollywood from headliner Zack Knight. Known for his infectious songs and slick productions, Zack has written for Tinie Tempah, opened shows for Taio Cruz and Jessie J, and is a star in his own right – selling out a UK headline tour and writing and producing the huge international hit Bom Diggy. Support came from melodic singer-songwriter Ezu, BBC Asian Network’s legendary DJ Bobby Friction and Bambi Bains – a trailblazer in the UK’s Desi R&B and Bhangra scene, as well as Manchester’s own Joash, Kami Kane, Luqy and Freezy, all hosted by TV & Radio personality Nikita Kanda.
Desi Factory was curated by Sam Malik, a pioneer of the city’s creative scene determined to shine a light on next gen talent, as well as the best of British South Asian music. A member of the Factory Sounds 2022 cohort – our artist development programme for Manchester’s music visionaries – Sam is making waves across the city with new music agency SM Music MGMT.

Aviva Studios is a new purpose-built cultural space in the heart of Manchester. The entrance to our building is through double glass doors. There are automatic doors at both entrances.
Once inside, there is step-free access to all areas of the venue. You will arrive into the Social, a large public space where there are a range of seats (including those with arms), a bar and toilets (including accessible toilets).
The bars in the Social and Hall Foyer have lowered accessible service points.
The entrance to the Hall is by lift, escalator or stairs from one side of the Social beside the brick arches. There is only one escalator, and this will take you up to the Hall before the show, and will be reversed so that you can travel down at the end of the performance.
There are accessible toilets on all public levels of the building.
Accessible toilets (a mixture of wheelchair accessible cubicles with right- or left-hand transfer as well as accessible ambulant cubicles with grab rails) are located in the brick arches in the Social.
There are additional accessible toilets located in both Hall Foyers.
You do not need a key to use the accessible toilets at Aviva Studios.
If you need to bring an assistance dog to this event, please contact access@factoryinternational.org
We will be using Williams WaveCAST headsets for both assisted listening and personal induction loops in the building. Unfortunately, this system was not yet in place for our MIF23 shows in the building. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
