Try out hip hop dance with these free taster sessions led by choreographers from Boy Blue – one of the UK’s most exciting dance companies

We’re running free taster sessions on Saturday 2 September and Sunday 3 September in different locations around Manchester and Salford for anyone interested in giving hip hop dance a go.

If you live in Greater Manchester, are aged 16 and over, and want to meet new people while learning a new skill, just book a ticket to reserve your spot.

The sessions are open to all, whatever your fitness or movement level – no professional dance experience is required, you just need to be up for having a go. We’re especially interested in hearing from people who’ve not been involved with Manchester International Festival or Factory International before.

It’s completely free to come along. Just wear something comfortable and bring some water too. Each session will last for around 90 minutes, and we’ll provide some snacks to boost your energy. We can also help with travel costs, please email yatie.aziz@factoryinternational.org to find out more.

The taster sessions are led by choreographers from dance company Boy Blue, who are working on Free Your Mind – our huge opening show for Aviva Studios, inspired by the iconic sci-fi film The Matrix.

FAQs

Each session will last for around an hour and a half.

The classes are for anyone aged 16 and over. If you’re under 18, parental or guardian consent is required to come along. Please book a 16-18 ticket type and we’ll be in touch about getting the right consent in place.

Wear clothes and trainers or shoes you feel comfortable moving in.

Just bring some water to stay hydrated. We'll provide some snacks to keep your energy boosted.

The event takes place in Crumpsall Community Hall. The full address of the venue is Cleveland Road, Crumpsall M8 4GS, and what3words is rift.swaps.them.

St Matthew’s and St Mary’s Church building is used by local communities for various local activities and has a room which acts a as a food bank centre.

Accessible toilets are available at Crumpsall Community Hall. Toilets are clearly labelled at the side of the hall by the ramp entrance.

The Free Your Mind: Dance Taster Session starts at 6.30pm and runs until 8pm.

Crumpsall tram: Crumpsall Metrolink (Stop B) is 559 meters away, 8 min walk. Crumpsall (Manchester Metrolink) is 742 meters away, 10 min walk.

Manchester Victoria station: 2.5 miles

Manchester Piccadilly station: 3.4 miles

Stagecoach 135 and 59. The nearest bus stops to Crumpsall in Manchester is Wilton Road is 275 meters away, 4 min walk, Half Way House (Stop B) is 367 meters away, 5 min walk, Bury Old Road (Stop F) is 413 meters away, 6 min walk. Parking on street. There are about 20 spaces within a 2min walk up to the church end of Cleveland Road, continuing down the other direction of Cleveland road there are approximately 30 spaces, up to 5min walk. There are no parking restrictions on weekends, but during the week its up to 3 hours between 8am and 7pm.
