Imtiaz Dharker (b. 1954, Pakistan)

As a poet, artist and documentary filmmaker, Dharker has scripted and directed over a hundred video films, working in the area of shelter, education and health for women and children. Her poetry collections are illustrated with her drawings, forming an integral part of the books. Themes include home, freedom, journeys, geographical and cultural displacement, communal conflict and gender politics. She was awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for poetry in 2014, and her poems are part of the UK schools national curriculum.
