Venue access

The main entrance is on Mosley Street. There is a ramp leading from Nicholas Street with handrails.

There is a wheelchair lift and stairs at the entrance on Princess Street. This entrance has an automatic revolving door.

Two glass lifts in the main atrium provide access to the galleries on the first and second floors.  

Layout and Seating

There are benches in the gallery. There are also a number of light, portable stools available near the lifts on the ground floor.  

Toilets

There are accessible toilets on the ground floor and on the first floor. They do not require a radar key.

Assistance Dogs

Guide and assistance animals, including assistance dogs in training, are welcome at the gallery.  

Water bowls for guide and assistance animals are available at the information desk, just ask and the Visitor Team will be happy to help. 

If you would like to visit with an emotional support animal, please contact the Visitor Team at vtcoordinators@manchester.gov.uk prior to your visit to discuss your request, they will not be able to admit emotional support animals without prior approval.

Chill Out Space

A quiet area for prayer or reflection is available by request. Guests may reserve this space ahead of their visit or inquire about it upon arrival. Prayer mats are provided. This temporary arrangement is in place as the venue works towards creating a permanently accessible space.

Manchester Art Gallery is approximately 0.4 miles from Oxford Road Station, 0.6 miles from Piccadilly Station, and 0.7 miles from Victoria Station.

Manchester Art Gallery is approximately 0.1 miles from St Peter’s Square Tram Stop, and 0.3 miles from Piccadilly Gardens Tram Stop.

There is bike parking at the corner of George Street and Nicholas Street, and at the corner of Portland Street and Princess Street.

There is a cycle hire bank on Booth Street, just off Mosley Street, 200ft from the entrance. Take a look at Transport for Greater Manchester’s webpage for advice on cycle hire.

Manchester Art Gallery can be approached by Princess Street, Mosely Street or St Peter’s Square.

All footways in the surrounding area are well lit and there are appropriate crossings across all main roads.

Manchester Art Gallery is served by both free bus routes and all city centre bound busses. The gallery is 0.3 miles from Piccadilly Gardens bus station, and 0.3 miles from Chorlton Street Coach Station. 

There are three disabled parking spaces on Nicholas Street and George Street.

There is a car park on Falkner Street, approximately 0.1 miles from Manchester Gallery.
