This event takes place in the Gallery, the Theatre and the Cinema.

Venue access

HOME has three floors, and there is step-free lift access to all levels. The two lifts are located in the main foyer, to the right of the front entrance. Both lifts have higher and lower buttons. One lift has a mirror.

All the spaces at HOME including the Gallery and Theatres are wheelchair accessible. Theatre 1 has three wheelchair spaces, which are in the stalls on the ground floor.

Layout And Seating

Sauniga will take place in Theatre 2. Theatre 2 is typically set up with raked bench seating which is unrestricted. Theatre 2 has two Wheelchair Spaces, both located on either end of the second row. If the seating is unreserved,  please contact access@homemcr.org to let HOME know if you would like to use one of these spaces and they will ensure it is reserved for you. Please also email them at this address if you would like to transfer from your wheelchair into a seat.

Fagogo will take place in the Gallery. The gallery is on the ground floor and is fully accessible. Talanoa will take place in the Cinema. The cinema seats dimensions are 45cm wide and 48cm deep.

  • Cinema 1 has four Wheelchair Spaces – two at the rear, accessible via lift, and two at the front.
  • Cinema 2 has two Wheelchair Spaces – both in the back row, near to the door
  • Marina’s Cinema has one Wheelchair Space – adjacent to the penultimate row, near to the door
  • Cinema 4 has two Wheelchair Spaces – both in the back row, near to the door
  • Cinema 5 has two Wheelchair Spaces – both in the back row, near to the door

Most of the Cinema seating is reserved and wheelchair spaces are available to book online. For any unreserved Cinema screenings, please contact access@homemcr.org to let us know if you need one of these spaces and we will reserve it for you. Please also email us if you would like to transfer from your wheelchair into a seat.

If you will be bringing a companion with you, please add an additional ticket to your basket and select the ticket type ‘Essential Companion’. This ticket type is free.

Additionally, you can phone our Box Office on 0161 200 1500 to make access arrangements, but please note that staff may be unable to answer the phone during busy periods.

Toilets

There are two accessible toilets on every floor, six in total. The Changing Places toilet space is located on the first floor.

In order to access the Changing Places space, please let a member of the team know and they will assist you to the space.

The Changing Place space has a hoist, an adjustable-height sink, a changing bench, privacy screen, stoma shelf, support handrails, and an accessible hand-drier.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome at this venue. You can reserve an assistance dog space by contacting access@homemcr.org or by calling HOME’s box office on 0161 200 1500, or by dropping into the venue.

Assistive Listening

HOME has audio induction loop systems at the Box Office and in the cinemas and theatres. Sennheiser infra-red amplification is available in HOME’s theatres. Visitors can request a headset or receiver for these services from the Box Office.

Chill Out Space

This venue does not have a chill-out space.

Travel Information

HOME is located between Oxford Road Train Station and Deansgate Train Station.

  • Deansgate train station is closest at 0.2 miles
  • Oxford Road train station is 0.3 miles
  • Piccadilly train station is located 0.7 miles away
  • Victoria train station is 1 mile away

Deansgate-Castlefield is the nearest Metrolink stop, a 5 min walk away, which is 0.2 miles or 320 metres from HOME.

The venue can be approached from Whitworth Street West, First Street or Medlock Street

Bike racks are situated between HOME and the INNSIDE by Meliá hotel. There are 20 bike stands available and additional racks are installed in the area surrounding First Street.

There is a cycle hire bank on at the corner of Medlock Street and City Road East.

The 256 bus from Piccadilly Gardens stops on Medlock Street. The bus stops are located 50 metres and 150 metres from HOME’s entrance. Get off the bus and walk towards HOME which is visible from the road.

Alternatively, you can use the Free Bus that links the main rail stations, shopping areas and businesses in the city centre. There are two circular routes covering the city centre. Free buses run from Piccadilly, Salford Central, Victoria, Oxford Road and Deansgate train stations.

Q-Park First Street multi-storey carpark has 28 accessible parking spaces. Blue Badges are not valid for free parking. You can find alternative Blue Badge parking on the Manchester City Council website here.

The nearest car park is Q-Park at First Street. The pedestrian car park entrance is approximately 30 metres from HOME’s main entrance. If you book online, you can receive a discount of 25% when you pre-book your car park ticket online, using the code: HOMEMCR25.

HOME is 0.8 miles from Aviva Studios, and the route is serviced by bus route 33.
