England play Wales tonight in the UEFA Women's Euro. Who are you cheering on?
Ahead of today’s match, we’re reading about British artist Rose Wylie and Arsenal and England national defender Lotte Wubben-Moy’s collaboration in Football City, Art United.
The paintings and drawings began as an image diary – Wubben-Moy’s behind-the-scenes photos from training, match days and daily life. In Wylie’s hands, they become a series of sharp, playful reinterpretations.
Known for her distinctive visual language that reimagines pop culture and daily life, Wylie focuses on details others might miss – a pair of legs in mid-stride, a contorted pose or the thoughts that go behind planning each move on the pitch. The result gives an insight into a footballer’s daily life through the eyes of a painter.

Watch: Cooking with Mary-Ellen McTague | Manchester Urban Diggers
Earlier this year, we visited our Community Partner Manchester Urban Diggers (MUD) – a community of urban market gardeners – with local chef and restaurateur Mary-Ellen McTague. Founded in 2019, MUD creates space for people to connect over growing, cooking and eating sustainable food. Watch this video to find out all about MUD and their work.
Later today, a new film by our other Community Partners REELMCR and the Salford Lads and Girls Club Film Crew premieres at Aviva Studios. Joy as Resistance is a new community film exploring the importance of joy and third spaces in times of challenge and social fraction. It features interviews and footage of our brilliant Community Partners and other familiar faces from our wider community network.

DO: Hop between films and continents
Today, enjoy a series of films from across the globe – spotlighting stories from Aotearoa New Zealand, Ukraine, Peru and Greater Manchester.
At HOME, watch Diaspora Rendered – a collection of short films by FAFSWAG reflecting on identity, place and representations of Moana ocean people. At Aviva Studios, watch Joy as Resistance followed by Balmy Ukraine: This is also Ukraine – an extraordinary short film by young people directly impacted by the full-scale invasion.
Finish the day with El Canto de las Mariposas (The Song of the Butterflies). Presented in tandem with Santiago Yahuarcani: The Beginning of Knowledge at the Whitworth, this poetic film focuses on Rember Yahuarcani, an Indigenous painter from the White Heron clan of the Uitoto Nation in Peru.
Fancy a screen break? There’s live music and family activities all day on Festival Square!
