Factory Sessions: A Certain Ratio
The trumpet shines in this funk-infused session with post-punk legends A Certain Ratio
Formed in Flixton, Manchester in 1977, A Certain Ratio have had a stellar career, starting with the release of their debut single All Night Party by Factory Records. The post-punk legends – made up of Peter Terrell (guitar, electronics), Simon Topping (vocals, trumpet), Jez Kerr (bass guitar, vocals), Martin Moscrop (trumpet, guitar), Donald Johnson (drums) and Martha Tilson (vocals) – are known for their unique blend of jazz, funk and angular, dance-infused classics.
A Certain Ratio made a triumphant return to their hometown for MIF23, performing at Festival Square with wonky pop upstart and vocalist Ellen Beth Abd. Here, they perform Mickey Way.
