About

This is where we share the research and development that helps shape what comes next. Across our programmes we test ideas, build prototypes and collaborate with artists and partners to explore new ways of making and experiencing culture.

Some experiments start with a creative question from an artist. Others respond to shifts in technology, audience behaviour or the wider world. What they all have in common is a commitment to learning through doing. We try things out in real conditions, with real audiences, and we document what we discover along the way.

These case studies offer a look inside that process. You will find insights from immersive and digital performance labs, new models for artist development, and practical experiments in participation, access and production. Some projects lead to fully realised work. Others remain as provocations or stepping stones, but each one adds to our understanding of how live and digital culture can evolve.

We publish these experiments to share knowledge, spark conversation and invite collaboration.
