In this episode of Dream Space podcast, actor, writer and director Zawe Ashton creates a multilingual childscape.

With Gemma Cairney as host, we enter Zawe’s dream space – a vast, sandy world where trains from different eras pass pine trees and ancient pyramids. There are multiple languages, but everyone can understand and connect with one another. It smells of childhood nostalgia, Play-Doh and Ugandan peanut sauce.

Zawe Ashton rose to fame as the beloved Vod in Channel 4’s Fresh Meat. She has since starred in Harold Pinter’s Betrayal and played the villain Dar-Benn in The Marvels. In 2019, she wrote her first play For All the Women Who Thought They Were Mad about Black women’s experiences in the workplace. In May 2024, she joined Gemma Cairney in conversation at WOW Manchester at Aviva Studios.
