Set Designer Anna Schöttl walks us through the world of Balkan Erotic Epic in this episode of Building Worlds.

Taking us behind the scenes of Marina Abramović’s masterpiece, hear from Anna on the inspiration behind the set – from concrete Brutalist architecture to iconic buildings in Bulgaria and classic Balkan tavernas.

Together the stellar creative team have created a world that audiences can move around, making their own journey through the piece in the cavernous space of the Warehouse.

Though initially Balkan Erotic Epic has been presented at Aviva Studios, it will have a future life in other venues – so the set has been built to be adapted to different formats.
