In the Studio with Blackhaine

Blackhaine presents And Now I Know What Love Is – an immersive performance work blending choreography and sound, asking both the cast and audience to question their sense of belonging and love in a world of despair.

We swapped our usual studio visit for a trip to rehearsals in the old factory at Diecast. Here is a film inspired by the soundscape and visual world of And Now I Know What Love Is – created in collaboration with Blackhaine.

Blackhaine is a British contemporary artist whose multimedia work brings together a mix of voice, movement and scenography, characterised by a radical approach to drill and noise music. His work extends to choreography, immersive audiovisual installation and creative direction for globally renowned musicians.

Blackhaine: And Now I Know What Love Is runs from 9 to 19 July as part of Manchester International Festival 2025. Find out more here.
