Venue access information for the Social, Aviva Studios
Location
The full address of the venue is Aviva Studios, Water Street, Manchester M3 4JQ and the what3words is chop.feeds.chase.
Venue access
Once inside Aviva Studios, there is step-free access to all areas of the venue. The flooring throughout the building is smooth concrete.
The Social has a range of seating, including those with arms and backs.
The bars in the Social and Hall Foyer have lowered accessible service points.
Our building is large. We have portable stools available to borrow if you would benefit from resting along the way during your visit.
The information desk is located in the Social in the orange box on the ground floor.
Here you will find people from our team who can help you if you need a ticket for an event. They can also answer any other questions you might have about Aviva Studios.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets on all public levels of our building.
Accessible toilets are located inside the main toilets space in the brick arches of the Social. The toilets are split into male, female and gender neutral – all of which contain accessible cubicles. The accessible toilets are towards the back of the space and contain left- or right-hand transfer, as well as ambulant accessible cubicles with grab rails and a Changing Places facility.
Our Changing Places is a fully accessible toilet with a height adjustable changing bench, a hoisting system, a peninsular toilet and sink.
There are shared handwashing facilities in each arch – they have soap dispensers under the mirrors to your left and dryers to the right. There are separate handwashing facilities inside the accessible cubicles.
Dogs
Pet dogs are allowed into the Social and our outdoor spaces but will not be allowed into event or exhibition spaces.
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout our building, and we can provide mats and water bowls on request, just ask a host when you arrive. We can also take care of your assistance dog if you do not want to take your dog into the performance space. Please also refer to our assistance dogs policy.
If you are bringing an assistance dog to a ticketed event, please let us know in advance by contacting access@factoryinternational.org or calling our access phone number: 0161 817 4531 (phone lines are open 10am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday).
Assistive listening
Assistive listening at Aviva Studios is delivered through an Auracast-enabled broadcast system call Auri. It is available to use in both the Hall and the Warehouse.
If you have Auracast-enabled hearing aids and mobile device, you can either select and join the relevant channel, just like you would a Wi-Fi network, or scan one of the QR codes located next to all entrances to the Hall and Warehouse.
If you don’t yet have Auracast-enabled hearing aids, you can instead borrow a receiver and induction neck loop from us and connect just like you normally would to another assistive listening system (e.g. by switching to T). Receivers are available to sign-out from the orange Information Point located in the Social. You do not need to let us know ahead of time that you’d like to make use of the facility.
On our bars, box office, merch stands and information point, we make use of traditional portable induction loops.
