The Andrew Law Hall – What to Expect

The Andrew Law Hall is our more traditional, end-on event space. It seats 1,230 visitors in its standard configuration, and 1,554 visitors when the seats in the stalls are removed to accommodate a standing crowd.

Events hosted in the Andrew Law Hall are normally ticketed and include music gigs, live podcast recordings, comedy nights, film screenings, dance and theatre productions. Seating is typically assigned (i.e. booked and allocated in advance). Many events make use of intervals to structure the experience for ticket holders.

When you arrive at Aviva Studios, you will first enter the Social which is located on the ground floor. Once the auditorium opens (typically 30 minutes before the advertised start time), our Visitor Experience team will invite you to pass through a set of glass double doors and travel up and into the Hall, either via the staircase, the lift or the escalator – whichever method is accessible to you.

Before entering the Hall via the door specified on your ticket, a Host will ask to scan your ticket. They will then offer to help you find your seat. You will receive your ticket via email and text ahead of the event. We recommend you screenshot or add to your phone wallet before arriving.

For the majority of visitors sat in the Stalls, the nearest toilets are located in the Social on the ground floor. There are two additional accessible toilets located on Level 2 near doors B and C. However, there are no other toilet facilities available on this floor.

For visitors sat in the Circle, the nearest toilets are located in the Upper Hall Foyer on Level 3. Here you’ll find two toilet blocks (women’s and gender-netural) which both include ambulant facilities. There are two accessible toilet cubicles on this level, located near doors E and F.

There is also an accessible toilet on Level 4 that is primarily intended to support visitors who are sat in row H of the Circle. This is located close to door G, but please do ask a member of our Visitor Experience team for support if you are struggling to locate it. There are no toilet facilities available on Level 5.

You do not need a radar key to use any accessible toilet at Aviva Studios.

When you first enter the Andrew Law Hall, the house lights will be on and low-level music may be playing. Other visitors will likely be chatting. Staff members will be directing people to their seats.

Once the event begins, the house lights will gradually dim and the production lighting on stage will get brighter. Most visitors will stop talking and there will generally be less movement in and out of the auditorium. Periodically throughout the event visitors may clap or cheer, especially towards the end of the event.

Once the event is over, the house lights will again turn on, and visitors will begin to exit the Andrew Law Hall. It can feel very crowded at this time, so if you’d prefer a quieter experience, we recommend waiting in your seat until most visitors have left the space.
