MIF LIVE: The Culture of Live Events

The next in our MIF LIVE series is a collaboration with Therme Art’s Wellbeing Culture Forum presenting Culture of Live Events: Redesigning Common Rituals.

MIF’s and The Factory’s Artistic Director, John McGrath, alongside Co-moderaters Marc Spiegler (Global Director of Art Basel) and Mikolaj Sekutowicz (CEO and Curator Therme Art), and panelists Es Devlin, artist and designer; Zoé Whitley, Director of the Chisenhale Gallery; Director of PAMM Miami, Franklin Sirmans; Constantin Chiriac, President of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival and General Manager of the Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu, and Robert C. Hanea, Chairman and CEO of Therme Group will be examining the need to design our cities for a greater sense of solidarity, providing adequate space for the voices and concerns of all parts of our society.

Culture is a vital force in our cities, bringing people together and adding to our sense of well-being. Working with world-renowned artists from different art forms and backgrounds, in collaboration with the local community and international cultural partnerships is central to MIF and The Factory. It enables us to create innovative and forward-thinking new work and like Therme Art, we want to ensure that we can maximise the potential of culture to transform our cities and change lives" John McGrath

The discussion will be streamed via MIF’s YouTube channel on Wednesday 17 June 5pm–6.45pm BST.

MIF LIVE is our free online programme for audiences at home, featuring much-loved shows from the Festival archives, artist talks, and new work from Manchester artists. Watch some of our highlights here…
