We Need to Talk About Truth

We Need to Talk About Truth
Boris Charmatz, one of Europe’s most daring choreographers, invited people to join him in conversation on the final date of his three-week residency in Manchester as he looked back at his pioneering MIF17 work 10000 Gestures.
Nujeen Mustafa was born with cerebral palsy and unable to walk. Forced to flee her home in Syria in 2012, she travelled 3,500 miles in a wheelchair (pushed by her sister) to seek a new life in Europe. She joined Sunday Times foreign correspondent Christina Lamb, co-author of The Girl from Aleppo: Nujeen’s Escape from War to Freedom, and James Ball, author of Post-Truth: How Bullshit Conquered the World, for a discussion entitled ‘Who to Trust in the Post-Truth Age’, chaired by Manchester poet and author Adam O’Riordan.
Grace Wales Bonner, one of today’s most original creative voices, screened Practice, a new short film directed with Harley Weir, starring South African teen ballet sensation Leroy Mokgatle, and featuring a score by Devonte Hynes (aka Blood Orange). The screening was followed by a Q&A hosted by journalist and curator Francesca Gavin.
We Need to Talk About Truth was part of Interdependence: We Need to Talk, six themed sessions of provocative conversation and new ideas staged every Saturday during MIF17.
