Phil Collins, the Turner Prize-nominated British artist behind Ceremony at MIF17, invited Astrid Proll to Interdependence. An early member of the Baader-Meinhof Group, Proll became a picture editor influential in the careers of Wolfgang Tillmans and Martin Parr, and is one of Collins’ heroes. The pair looked back at the radical art and politics of the 1970s, asking what it means to be radical today.

Yael Bartana and the creative team behind MIF17’s What if Women Ruled the World?, which asked ordinary women to answer some of today’s greatest challenges, discussed their redefinition of contemporary heroism. Bartana is an acclaimed Israeli-born artist whose work explores identity and the politics of memory.
