Scope: This policy applies to members of the public (within site boundaries) to our visitors, staff, and contractors within Aviva Studios and the extended site. This includes the public realm areas River Square and City Square.
1. General Guidelines
- Factory International welcomes private photography and personal filming in our building, Aviva Studios, and around our site. We are happy for individuals to share photographs/videos on social media or as part of non-commercial creative projects.
- We request that visitors respect the privacy of others and not cause disruption to other members of the public or audiences when taking photos.
- Photographers/videographers must not cause damage to the building or the site when taking photos or filming.
- If damage to the site or building occurs, or there is disruption to other’s enjoyment then you will be asked to desist from photography by Factory International staff and potentially be asked to leave the site by our staff or security team.
- Professional or commercial photography/filming requires prior authorisation (see section 3).
2. Restricted Areas
- No photography is allowed in areas identified as restricted or sensitive, including but not limited to security zones, staff-only areas, and emergency exits.
3. Commercial & Professional Photography
- Approval for commercial photography or filming requires written authorisation, which will be issued once a signed contract is in place and site/facilities fees have been received.
- Commercial requests and enquires should be made in advance via venuehire@factoryinternational.org.
- Definition: Commercial photography refers to the creation of images intended primarily for business, promotional, or financial gain. Images that will be used to sell, promote, or represent a brand, product, or service.
4. Photography of Individuals
- Professional photographers and filmmakers/videographers must obtain consent before taking and publishing images of identifiable individuals.
- Photography of minors (under 18 years) requires the consent of a parent or guardian.
5. Events & Special Permissions
- Event organisers, Event Agencies or Promotors working at Aviva Studios must coordinate photography plans with Factory International through the assigned Event Manager or Event lead.
- Permission for drone or aerial photography must be obtained in advance via the Operations Director and should comply with UK Drone law as set out by the CAA.
Failure to comply with this policy may result in a request to leave the premises or further legal action.
Factory International @ Aviva Studios reserves the right to modify this policy at any time.

Press requests
Filming and photography at Manchester International Festival and other Factory International events may only take place by prior arrangement. If you have a media filming or photography enquiry please contact us at press@factoryinternational.org with a minimum of 2 weeks lead time.
