We were transported to other realms as cosmic sound and vision collided.

Bringing together the unified powers of Danalogue, Betamax and Shabaka, The Comet is Coming is a cosmic alignment of inter-stellar talents, featuring synth, drums and saxophone.

For this very special performance at MIF23 – their last in Manchester before the band returned to near-Earth orbit for a break from touring – they were joined by Daisy Dickinson, ground-breaking visual artist and filmmaker. Daisy’s short films have been screened at film festivals such as BFI London and Raindance, while her installations have toured the globe, from Glastonbury to Japan.

Together they presented Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam – a unique collision between the band’s cosmic sounds and Dickinson’s transcendent visuals – specially commissioned for MIF23.

A night that transported you to new worlds.

Aviva Studios is a new purpose-built cultural space in the heart of Manchester. The entrance to our building is through double glass doors. There are automatic doors at both entrances.

Once inside, there is step-free access to all areas of the venue. You will arrive into the Social, a large public space where there are a range of seats (including those with arms), a bar and toilets (including accessible toilets).

The bars in the Social and Hall Foyer have lowered accessible service points.

The entrance to the Hall is by lift, escalator or stairs from one side of the Social beside the brick arches. There is only one escalator, and this will take you up to the Hall before the show, and will be reversed so that you can travel down at the end of the performance.

There are accessible toilets on all public levels of the building.

Accessible toilets (a mixture of wheelchair accessible cubicles with right- or left-hand transfer as well as accessible ambulant cubicles with grab rails) are located in the brick arches in the Social.

There are additional accessible toilets located in both Hall Foyers.

You do not need a key to use the accessible toilets at Aviva Studios.

We will be using Williams WaveCAST headsets for both assisted listening and personal induction loops in the building. Unfortunately, this system was not yet in place for our MIF23 shows in the building. We are sorry for any inconvenience this caused.
